Annie's Own Raggedy

Hope everyone's Christmas was wonderful.

I received the best present ever. Both my husband and daughter work holidays. My husband was scheduled off. My daughter, a nurse, was allowed to leave work early. My entire family, grandson included, celebrated Christ's birth at church Christmas Eve together for the first time in many, many years. God sure is good ~ He knew what I needed most.

A new Annie I just finished is Annie's Own Raggedy.

The pink border is vintage given to me by a friend. Annie's bodice I machine smocked.

Wishing all a blessed New Year. God bless.

Raggedy Annie Angel

This is only the second time I have made my raggedy angel.

The first went to an angel who is now with the Lord looking down from above.

This raggedy angel is for a special angel here on earth.

Made with love for a special friend.

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas.

God bless.

Sally Nightmare

My charmingsbycmh version of Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas This was a custom order.
She was a challenge ~ I had fun stitching her face and body but needed my husband's help with the mix match clothing ~ it was hard finding different color fabrics that I would be happy with and thought looked well together while still being Sally Nightmare. She was so much fun to do ~ I do love a challenge!
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
God bless.

Lovin' from the oven

So happy that I did actually finish two Annies to post this week.
It was such a hectic and busy week at work and at home.
The highlight of the week though was I got to play with my grandson, Dominic.
We played while his mommy and daddy when to a movie and then again for Trick or Treat.
He was a very unhappy but cute dragon ~ hated wearing his costume!

please santa no coal

It still amazes me how each Annie can look different

~ guessing because they are handmade with prayers and love.

I feel in love with this Annie ~ "please santa no coal"

I do believe I will have a hard time putting her up on Ebay this week.

I made a similar Christmas Annie as a special order.

This time I gave her straight hair and a slightly different hat.

Gingerbread Wishes
I thank God for letting me create these little Annies.

They help me relax after a busy day at work.
God bless ~ thanks for visiting.

Holiday Peace Angel Annie

Have to post early on Sundays now ~ it is football season and Bobby needs the computer for his fantasy football leagues. The only time he ever uses a computer! LOL
Holiday Peace Angel Annie will be up on Ebay maybe today
if I can get to use the computer later today.
Her dress is from a beautiful fabric panel of ivory poinsettia
with a blue background and gold highlights.
After I dressed her I knew she had to be an angel so she has ivory wings with specs of gold.

This little Annie is one to be personalized.
Her dress is a holly and berry print and her apron is from a scallop edged vintage linen.
Well I have to give up my computer now.
Have a blessed week ~ thanks for visiting ~ God bless.

Christmas Annies and Christmas Bears

Love this time of the year ~ cooler days ~ trees are changing ~ making Christmas Annies!
Tried a new pinafore for Annie ~ it is a holly print and tied at the sides with twine ~ her straight wool hair was hand dyed by my cousin, a fiber artist ~ sadly this is the last of it. Annie has a beautiful print panel for her dress skirt of Christmas teddy bears and poinsettia ~ I just had to dress her little bear to match then added a bell in her hair bow
I love this Annie with blue eyes and braids ~ she is a custom order going to Italy. Thanks for visiting ~ wishing all a wonderful week ~ God bless.

the smaller Annie has a pretty blue snowy winter dress with a white eyelet underskirt.

Thanks for visiting. God bless.

Autumn Annies and Dominic

Pops and I got a surprise visit from Dominic, our 15 month old grandson.

We got to play tonight while Mommy and Daddy spent some time together.
Two new Annies for Ebay this week are Happy Harvest with her giant corn cob and Autumn Makes Me Sing. Tried a new acrylic yarn for their hair ~ it takes a little longer to do since it is a 4 ply instead of 3 ply yarn ~ it is softer than the wool I normally use ~ I think I like the wool better ~ opinions are appreciated ~ please and thank you. :)

Wishing all a wonderful, miracle filled week. Praying my new great-neice will make an appearance into this world ~ she is over due and her mommy and all her family sure wants to meet her.
God bless ~ thanks for visiting.

Three Still Naked Italia Annies!

Well the Italia Annies are getting a little closer to not being naked.
The first time I made her I just made her, she was fun.
Now I have to make three more and I didn't realize how much detail I did with all that ribbon!
They looked too cute not to post....
looks like their saying
"dress me, please dress me and give me hair!"

Prim Raggedy Ann Hair Tutorial

Thought I would do a raggedy ann doll hair tutorial.
First is the kind of yarn I use. Most of my Annie's hair is from spinayarn.com.
It is uncut wool rug yarn and I haven't been able to find it anywhere else.
2013 UPDATE - I originally used Paternayan rug yarn unfortunately this is no longer made ~
I was lucky to find Halycon Classic Rug Yarn as a replacement ~ it is not as soft as Paternayan but looks the same ~ my curly hair Annies now have Halycon Classic Rug Yarn hair

new updated hair tutorial can be found at the link below
http://charmingsbycmh.blogspot.com/2015/10/raggedy-ann-or-rag-doll-needle-felted.html

cut the yarn into desired lengths ~ I use about 10 inch lengths ~ separate the 3 ply yarn ~ fold in half and cut ~ you will have six wavy strands of yarn ~ depending upon the size of your doll's head you might want longer or shorter lengths of yarn ~

mark Annie's head along the seam ~ I use 1/2 inch spaces ~ sew six strands of yarn along the seam ~ if you want thinner hair use 4 strands ~ it's your choice ~ you are the artist ~ experiment!

Next draw three rows on the back of Annie's head ~ mark where you will sew her hair about 1/2 inch apart

When Annie's hair is all sewn on ~ give her head a little shake to fluff it out ~ now you can give her a hair cut ~ trim to desired length.

Here she is all finished with hair bow.

Hope this is a help ~ if you have any questions ~ please just ask.

Thanks for visiting and God bless.

Naked Raggedy Annies!

Three little naked and bald Annies ~ soon to be three Italia sisters!

I thought they looked so cute naked ~ they are sitting in a basket on their (need for me to sew yet!) Italian costumes ~ they will also get hangtags with their Italian surnames.

Tonight I work my last day at Musikfest ~ exhausting but loads of fun. Musikfest is a 10 day festival of free music held in the city of Bethlehem, Pa. Pops and I also had a wonderful time watching our grandson, Dominic, yesterday and he actually let Grammy sleep through the night ~ yeah Dominic!

Finished two Annies ~ they will go up on Ebay this week.
